My 16 year old son gave a speech during his Eagle Scout Court of Honor in March that was truly moving. It talked about the responsibility that comes with rank, and intertwined the life of an Eagle with the interdependence of man, and the responsibility we have for each other.

The speech impressed the Council Executive enough that he asked my son to give it again at the annual business meeting of the Council.

Now my son has been asked to speak as the representative of our BSA Council at a commemorative memorial ceremony being held at a nearby university for Garrett Floris Lee, an Eagle Scout and a 7th Cavalry Trooper who was killed in action at the Battle of Ia Drang.

I am a very proud father.

Edited to remove the word former before Eagle Scout. Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout. I know better......
