For those who don't know the history of the 46th SF Co and its association with the 1st SFG, volunteers from the 7th SFG formed D Co (Augmented) 1st SFG at Fort Bragg in 15 April 1966 and deployed to Thailand 15 Oct 1966 with concurrent redesignation as the 46th SF Co. The 46th SF Co was redesignated 46th SF Bn in 1972 and then US Army SF-Thailand (USASFT) although their official designation was 3rd Bn 1st SFG until their inactivation and departure from Thailand in the spring of 1974.

I was one of those guys who was 'officially' in the 1st SFG but never stationed on Oki or wore the 1st SFG flash (we wore the 46th Co flash) and 'officially' in the 10th SFG but never stationed at Devens or wore the 10th SFG flash (we wore the 1-10th flash with the German national colors on the flash and wings background).

And so it goes...
