Got an answer to my question:
My email:
Greetings-
The book looks like a great idea for some great causes.
Since you don’t list the groups you are benefiting by name on your site, can you provide me with a specific listing of the hand-selected organizations benefiting from the purchase of the book and the percentages each group gets?
The response:
I appreciate the question. I do not list the names of the groups on the site because I don’t have their permission to do so. I don’t have their permission because the main reason I made the book was for organizations to sell it themselves as a fundraiser, I have already worked with several groups that way and seen great success. These military charities are very particular about the use of their name(which is fair) and they do not want their name legally tied to my book if I then let another group sell the book and keep all of the proceeds for themselves.
Because of that I can’t use the names of the benefiting organizations. I can tell you that so far I have donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, and Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. These are two top notch groups in my book. There are others that I will be donating to but I am awaiting having significant donations before I send them money, but this week I will be donating to two different organizations.
I also do not set aside a specific percentage of each book sold. My cost various fairly dramatically depending on the marketing efforts I have used to sell the book. I can tell you that the donations vary per book from $5-$12. My costs are printing, shipping, and marketing(I include in marketing I pay some people and businesses a commission for selling the book in their stores or various places), I do not take a salary.
Thank you for the questions and taking some time to look over this project, let me know if you have any others.
