My SF Company has its share of 18X's and Rep 63's. Some are squared away and others should be flushed away, that also includes guys who spent time in AD and then went SF.
My two cents is: it's not the route they took to become SF that matters, it's what they do after they come to the teams that matters. Although, it seems to me that the guys who come from units, generally have a understanding of administrative functions then guys who went straight into SF.
