Historians distinguish four different manifestations of the Inquisition: - Medieval Inquisition (1184–1230s)
- Spanish Inquisition (1478–1834)
- Portuguese Inquisition (1536–1821)
- Roman Inquisition (1542 – c. 1860 )
Islamism - as delineated by Daniel Pipes - has been going on for about 1 Century.
