A Question came up at work.
In most Pistol Remedial Action you Lock the slide to the rear. Then remove the Magazine when doing Remedial Action.
In most Rifle Remedial Action you remove the Magazine first, then lock the Bolt to the rear when doing Remedial Action.

Can anyone give me a good reason why the Magazine is removed first with the Rifle and not with the Pistol. We are using M4 Carbines and 1911 Pistols.
