I know what you mean. I've got a pre WWII Czech BRNO Mauser 98 action in the safe waiting to be built into a 9.3x62mm. One of these days when I'm ever home it will be my winter project.

Exactly! I'm just starting to fall in love with the mauser type actions, the more I learn about them. Controlled feed, and just really rugged...and still reasonable priced compared to many "modern" actions.
But, I guess I can't argue with the Rem700, since I can't beat the price (free), and it does give me something to get started with Dad.
I've got to still find a mauser (or 1903) for myself sometime soon.
