You are correct- a couple of more shakers like the one Sunday and we will be adrift. As a matter of fact we hunted right on the San Andreas Fault! You are also correct about a lead free zone. The effing Califonia Condors are in the area so lead free ammo is the rule. I was talking with the guide about copper bullets and he didn't like them. He said if the copper bullets don't hit bone, they just punch holes. This was true with our two shots. Fortunately, both shots were well placed so the pigs dropped right away...
And yes, we will be eating them. The pigs in this area eat acorns and barley grown in the area. I keep the ribs, loins and back straps, the rest I de-bone and grind up into sausage. I mix the wild pork 50-50 with store bought pork. The wild pork has great flavor but is very lean so I use the store bought pork to increase the fat content.
