No, seriously, it is not and was not designed to be a sniper rifle. There is work on a Sniper variant but the Heavy was a Heavy battle rifle weapon system. It was never meant to be a Sniper Weapon System. Can you hit a man-sized target at 450 meters, hell yes, can you do consistently at 600 meters, probably not. 450 meters is Designated Marksman land. Hell even the "Knuckle Draggers" can do that with a M4.
Some notes:
1. The mounting system will not mount a PVS 22 - 29. Too short.
2. Will not hold a group when it heats up, nothing new here the M110 has a similar problem just not as radical.
3. Once it fouls it gets very erratic (sniper wise) in accuracy and distance from aim point.
4. Ergonomics, for some, is bad as cheek slides down the cheek rest.
A quick point of reference, when guys talk accuracy are you saying it shoots .5 moa groups (extreme spread of the group), or it shoots within .5 moa of aim point? They are two different measurements and some confuse that two to make a weapon sound better than it is and for its capabilities.
