Here are some pictures of my two favorite weapons, both of which mean very much to me.
First is the M1911 which was given to be by a great friend who has since passed; He served as a Navy Sea Bee during WWII. The gun saw action (which I learned at his memorial service) in Normandy, where the Higgins boat he was driving was hit by a German 88 shell, leaving him the only survivor, which he was then forced to link up with the Infantry to storm the beach. He carried the trusty 1911 to the pacific theater, until the war ended..
Secondly, is my new purchase; A CMP Special Grade Garand. My great uncle and my grandfather both carried Garands with them while they served in the Army during the Korean War era, and a little beyond. My grandfather was part of the USAMU and shot with the Garand; and was very excited that I bought the rifle, I am too.
