The life and sayings of Muhammed (sunna/hadiths) are actually used more as a guide for conduct than the Qur'an and there are examples of Mu's life that can support just about any violent position one would like...ergo, it is easy to find a Mullah, Sheik,Imam to support any position and underwrite it with scripture....as the life/sayings of Mu are not taken in a 7th Century context but extrapolated directly to life today as he was the 'best example of manhood' to ever exist yada, yada.
