Thanks for the BLUF viewpoint on the kit. I should have included the question in my original post, "Is this thing worth having?". No point in wasting the unit's money if it's not worthwhile. There's lots of other stuff we could use the money for.

As an aside, I've come back in after a 7 year break in service. I think the single biggest thing that I'm having trouble getting used to is the incredible explosion in the amount of STUFF that is now available. The amount of companies making "tactical" equipment and the like must have increased by a factor of twenty, at least. My common sense tells me that a large percentage of it must be fairly worthless, but I'm still trying to wrap my brain around everything from the new MOLLE gear to all the accessories for the new and various weapons systems. To that end, this site and the members have been invaluable. I'm trying to make sure I don't pollute the site with stupid questions that I could find the answers to elsewhere. That said, as everyone here knows, there is a unique depth of knowledge here, particularly relating to sniper information.
