I got a Rock Island Armory GI M1911 pistol to start learning with last month and have only put 100 rounds through it with one FTF, but that was probably a fault that can be attributed to my inept hands.
I think it's a great pistol, but to be honest I don't really know what constitutes a great pistol. I'd love to get more practice with it but, unfortunately, ammunition is expensive.
