Max effective range

I have fired these suppressors till they would glow beyond orange, and they still shoot just fine (minus the exterior paint). A full 200 round ammo pack in fast bursts through an M-249 SAW with the can on and bullets were still cutting the same ragged hole. SureFire cut a 5.56 can down with over 30,000 rounds through it and there was no appreciable wear. No one knows what the life span might be, but based on my experience, it exceeds several barrels.

Neatest thing is the easy set-up on any weapon with a common threaded flash suppressor and the requisite barrel length, and the easy install and removal with the ratcheting latch. If the can is not too hot to hold, I can install or remove one in less time than it takes to read this sentence.

The velocity increase is a good generalization, but experimentation has shown that it varies with the load and barrel length.

Interesting choice of the 168 grain. The reason I say this is that genereally the conventional wisdom would dictate a heavier round, assuming you are attempting to achieve both *Sound reduction* and *Max effective* range with the 7.62 genre. I'm going to take a stab and assume that the 168 grain is a comprimise from lighter to heavier yet still achieving an acceptable level of sound reduction and effective range. Since my experience with suppressors is largely with pistol calibers, I will only load sub-sonic bullets for suppressed shooting. However, I am seeking the most quite sound signature possible, not necessarily concerned with what happens to the bullet in flight or that my max effective range may be dampened by the use of a suppressor. After all, pistols are only used at 25-50 meters, if that.
