You got that right. I have a JP AR-10 upper with a Bennie Coolie compensator and I pity the fool standing next to that barrel when it fires. Those compensators are basically standing or kneeling affairs. From a prone they really throw gravel, dirt, and dust. Loud buggers as well.
I will say this much for them. On about anything that is supersonic, they absolutely work in keeping down recoil and muzzle flip.
Probably not the best idea for tactical situations.
