Layers
Layers, think layers.
Gortex, for sure, if the weather looks wet or windy.
Keep away from cotton products next to the skin and in the next few layers. A thin form fitting poly-pro type underwear followed by other layers of similar items.
Other than that, light and fluffy to trap air and easy to remove before you overheat and start to sweat. If you are moving remember to have something to carry or strap down the stuff you take off. Hate to walk around with an arm full of cloths.
I wore a field jacket liner under my cammies on many an FTX.
