Just thought I would check and see if there is anyone else out there with a taste for the shorty carbines.

This one started as an LMT 10.5” Defender, with the optional LMT (Crane) SOPMOD buttstock, the Tango Down Battlegrip, and LMT’s excellent two-stage match trigger. It is pretty similar to the issued CQB-R.

I added the CQD singlepoint sling mount, the CQD vertical foregrip, the PRI Gas Buster charging handle (a must for suppressed AR series weapons), a SureFire M73 rail forend, a SureFire FA556K suppressor and compensator adaptor, a SureFire X200B light, a Troy Industries Folding Rear Battle Sight, and an EO Tech 552 optic.

This weapon is very light and compact, coming in at just over 26” with the stock collapsed and the suppressor removed. With the can installed, it is almost exactly the same length as the M4 carbine.

Thus far, I have put about 250 rounds of assorted ammo, from the 40gr. LeMas to the 77gr. Black Hills through it and had no malfunctions or stoppages, it runs like a top. That is expected of the LMT, which has a rep as one of the most reliable shorties out there. No formal accuracy testing yet, I hope to be able to do that in the next few days.

The system does require two Class Three transactions, one for the Short Barreled Rifle and another for the suppressor.

As noted elsewhere, this is a limited purpose weapon, particularly with conventional ammo. It makes an excellent substitute for the SMG, and with the right ammo, can be effective to 200 meters and beyond. This would be an excellent choice for personnel with strictly indoor engagements, those who are operating from a vehicle or small aircraft, or who are not likely to be combatants.

The first set of photos is without the can. Thanks to a buddy for shooting while I took photos. Note the ejected cases and cycling action in the last two pics.

Hope this is of interest.
