I’m a lurker here. I’ve nothing of interest of offer, so I keep my mouth shut, and read. But, I went shooting with Team Sargeant today, and came away from the shoot impressed, very impressed.
I’m not new to shooting. I’m lucky enough to live in Phoenix, where there are good ranges. I’ve participated in pistol shoots with Brian Enos, Rob Leatham. I’ve shot 1000 yd matches with and pulled targets for the likes of Mid Tompkins, his wife, Nancy Gallagher and her daughters, Michelle and Cherie, as well as other Palma Team members, such as Norm Crawford and Tom Whitaker. So, I’ve seen some impressive shooting.
After some “meet and greet” and warm up shooting, we got down to it. I thought, OK, so TS can put 3-5 rds from his trusty HK (stock) into one hole covering a 1" sq. pastie from 7-10 paces. So, he can knock off 12 gauge husks from the top of the 1" sq wood target stand. So he can put a .45 on target at 256 yds. I’ve seen that before (well, OK, I’ve heard of it). Not impossible, but takes a good shooter to do it. And, TS obviously had the training.
Well, then he puts a .45 case on top of the wood, open end down, and puts another .45 case on top of the first case, and says he’s going to shoot the top case off, and leave the bottom case on the wood. Yeah, right! Maybe after a few magazines.
Well, damned if he didn’t do it. I mean, he drew, focused - and I mean focused - fired one shot, and knocked the top case off. He left the bottom .45 case sitting on the stand. TS’ bullet not only knocked the top case off, but drove the bottom case into the wood so deep I couldn’t pull it out. TS had to shoot that one out too.
Now, I’m impressed. I’d only want to play guns with TS if he was on my side.
