The idea is sound, keep a round count on the weapon. The execution is a techie dream and an operational nightmare. What in the heck am I going to do with a computer chip in the weapon? Treat it gently so as not to break it, not freeze it? Why not just do what is supposed to be done and have the arms room guy ask on turn in, "rounds fired?".
