I wanted a broad point for hard use and with the CPM S-30V steel, they should hold up well. I have pictures of my first tanto blades from over twenty years ago. These were inspired by my good friend the knifemaker Bob Lum who introduced the world to the modern custom tanto.

I was speaking with Dick Barber a couple days ago, he is the guy who designed, tested and produced the CPM S-30V steel while he was with Crucible Specialty Tools steels. The quality of this steel (impact toughness, bending strength and edge holding) is proven and Dick tells me it's the fastest growing tool steel in modern knifemaking.

Oh yeah the steel and Lone Wolf/Harsey Tanto are all Made In USA.
That still matters to me.
