If you HAD to carry a 9mm...
...what would it be? I love the 45ACP and it will always be my first choice, but let's say you were deploying to a "hot" area and could take any sidearm you want as long as it is a 9mm. What would you choose?
Mine would be (in order): 1) Para-Ordnance P18-9 2) HK USP9 3) Sig P226R Tactical 4) Browning Hi-Power MkIII (preferably customized) 5) CZ-75 (or 85) The Glock is not on my list simply bcz of its grip angle and my body not getting along. |
1) SIG 226R Tactical
2.) HK P-7 PSP |
#1 SIG P226R
#2 CZ75 #3 Browning MKIII (I'm comfortable with cocked and locked) #4 USP 9 |
Glock 34
Glock 17 USP 9 USP 2000 in 9mm |
1 Attachment(s)
USP 9x19mm
|
My choices would are:
Glock 26 92FS |
I carried a Browning Hi-Power the whole time I was in RVN and it saved my ass numerous times !! I still have it (along with a couple of others) and would go to ground with it in a heartbeat !!

9mm
A stick with a nail on the end of it..........Just adding some humor guys. Your choices above are great. Having been in the Army for many years I would take the Berretta because I fired it so much I don't have to think how to operate it in a stressful situation/Gunfight. I made sure I had three guns when I left the Army. Berretta (vertec) M-4 and an M-24 SWS. Those are the three guns I can operate with muscle memory.

Don't get caught up in the caliber of pistol, just carry Le Mas ammo and the 9mm will do what you want it to...put them down where they'll stay.
SHOT PLACEMENT....a .45 to a non-vital area will allow the bad guy to keep shooting at you. .22 to the snotlocker will generally stop them in 1 shot. Carry the para with 18+1 in it...more ammo with more 'lethal' ammo is what I would take anywhere. ss |
Yeah, what he said

I'm no help on pistols as I'm more dangerous with one if I throw it at you instead of shooting it at you ( slight exageration :D ). |
My G34
Browning Hi-Power |
First choice would be a Sig in 226R DAK or 229R DAK. Second choice would be a Glock 17 or G19.

From your list of choices I would carry the Sig P226R Tactical. However on hits or Team "functions" I carry the standard SF M9 Beretta with Brigadier slide for the sake of ammo continuity. I shot over 10,000 rds thru my M9 this last Iraq rotation and it performed fine. The cheapo ammo we issued to our Iraqi counter-parts would cause the M9 to function slower, but is still functioned.
Caveat: When I was alone, or with non-Team guys on anything other than a hit I would carry my Kimber Custom... its a little harder walk away from a .45 ACP hole in your chest. Quote:

USP Compact 9
or my new FN Hi Power (soon to be on its way to be customized). |
Whatever is free and goes bang when I pull the trigger.
I don't have much of a model or maker preference when it comes to screwdrivers or hammers either. Although I do like the Craftsman guarantee. |
