Small Wars Journal

Cool

Might be interesting.

Yeah, looks like there could be some good info there. Plus, there is a ton of resources.

I got to tell you D, I'm impressed. That's a very extensive research library you've got going over there. It's easy to see a lot of work went into the site. Congratulations.

Thanks

A new school year

I am bumping up this thread and its link to Small Wars Journal.

I realize it is referenced in numerous other threads.

However, the new school year is beginning and any History teacher/Social Studies teacher worth his/her salt should be aware of this resource.
( I can say that because I am one. :D :lifter )

RC-
You may be the only one out there - most of the kids I've met recently have no clue about history or social studies. Sad state of affairs, especially since one of my minors in my undergrad was history.... All the PC issues seem to get in the way of teaching kids to think, I always questioned at least some of the ideas put forth, I guess I was smart enough to realize history is written by the winners, except in the case of the Bible - it's the history of the 'losers'.

I searched but URL's are hard to check. I don't think this is posted.

In October, the State Department launched a COIN Web site, "www usgcoin org", where it posted presentations from the September COIN conference and related documents on COIN theory and practices. (There are some useful links, one of which is SWJ ).

Thats nice.

If the Quiet Professionals here started discussing COIN we'd get this website shut down in record time. It's one thing to discuss from "open" source material its quite a bit different discussing COIN from an operational stand point.

We'll discuss Vietnam COIN, but, we're not discussing any currently ongoing techniques, tactics or procedures.;)
