Is it my old eyes or does the YARBOROUGH and serial number look raised?
Maybe just the photo. |
Bobby,
I think it's an optical illusion of the shadowing. Guy used good microlens. I can never get that clarity. Course, anymore all I use is my phone. :munchin |
not to me, they looked stamped.
To bad we can't trace it...anyone have any good contacts at the SF museum or gift shop?? I can ask around.. |
I just can’t believe anyone would spend $1,500 for a knife. What did it do: “gut Mohammad al Kabul?”
Don’t they sell new for $350? |

Yep
for awhile if you documented your status as an SFQC graduate you could get a numbered one for about 450 if you could show that you were a bonified SF guy before the advent of serialized knives |
The Yarborough is still available @ the JFK Museum Bookstore that has relocated to the SFA HQ http://www.jfkwebstore.com/
I just spoke with Anne Reeve and both the Yarborough and the "Civilian Version" Green Beret Knife are not only still in production, but have NO END DATE as of now. Stay Safe Brothers!! |
I just emailed Roxanne. She usually reaches out to Guardiansofthegreenberet.com if one is reported stolen to spread the word.
I asked her to check and see if this one has been stolen. She will usually try and contact the name that's assigned this Knife. I'll follow up when she replies |
Thanks Brother!!!

Thank you brother, at least this one has an intact serial number.
Remember the recovered Yarborough where the thief ground off the serial number? Meth heads. It's what they do. http://www.professionalsoldiers.com/...ad.php?t=48993 |
I think this is the 2nd or 3rd round sale for that serial number.

Property of U S GOV.
Would that serial numbered Yarborough Knife still be considered U S GOV. property, since it was issued to a particular service member ? What is the LEGAL issue with U S GOV. Property issued to a service member for example a General Officer staff car, an enlisted NCO issued a lap-top computer, The M-16A1, MP's that are issued a Sig-Sauer P-320, My guess is that FIREARMS and expensive issued items are a must return or if LOST the individual is billed and must PAY for the item....I would bet that any missing FIREARM would be intensely investigated.... Anyone have first hand knowledge ?????

Early graduates signed for their Yarborough, but I'm pretty sure that "policy" has ended. |
Owners can do what they want with them now.
I had an email thread with Roxanne, and JAG when we were recovering a lost/stolen one a few years ago. It was brought up in the email as to whether they could sell it or not. They first wanted to establish if it was being sold by the owner himself before we contacted the business selling it as that was allowed. I'm sure I have that email somewhere yet might have a hard time finding it as we've used a number of emails over the years. |
