Thank You Mark LaRue!

Ok, so last week I purchase a LaRue rail for one of my guns. No big deal, nice rail. That was it. Well today the rail arrives, in a really big box........

So I open the box and to my surprise there's a very cool LaRue bottle opener, (got one at Shot Show years ago), two great bumper stickers, a LaRue catalog, three copies of the Constitution of the United States, and......a bottle of "Dillo Dust" (Dry Rub). How cool is that!!!!! The Dillo Dust even has complex instructions: "Just rub on meat & cook."

Well Mark, as a Special Forces sniper I already know you have some of the best products on the market and as a professional chef I will be more than happy to evaluate your "Dillo Dust" !

That Dillo dust is pretty darn good. :)

Dillo - as in armadillo?

And the DD is pretty damned good! That's why it's rationed at SHOT. (And why I'm hoping he ships out a couple cases of it for the SF Sniper Comp next month. :p)

Makes me want one even more......

Doubt I would get the extras (And wouldn't expect or need them), but the fact they go the extra mile for those who earned it says a lot.

LaRue is a class act and a true patriot. Got my OBR and got all of the above, + his new paint can lid / stir system. The dillo dust is a awesome!

Very Nice!

Now if he would just share his Dillo Dust recipe......... ;)

I bought an 18" PredatOBR 7.62 from them and the safety was a little sticky for my taste, although it probably would have smoothed out after a few hundred rounds. They overnighted me a shipping box and paid for return shipping, fixed it overnight (dropping in an upgraded trigger assembly at the same time for free), then overnighted it back to me. Last week, my BCG got knocked off the bench by someone else while I was cleaning my barrel at the range, bending the carrier key. They overnighted me an entirely new bolt and carrier and sent a return label for the damaged one. I have never had to ask for anything special and I haven't been charged for any of this - it is just how LaRue does business.

I get really tired of reading forum lurkers run them down because they chose to prioritize military and law enforcement orders when production was insufficient to meet demand.

Now that's some good marketing going on there!!

Let us know how the Dillo Dust is.

WILCO, I tasted it right after I smelled it (yeah I'm that kind of chef). For a dry rub to taste that good off my finger is a very good sign......

I'm thinking a beef brisket or pork shoulder is in order.......

mark46th 02-11-2015 15:49

I'd use it on a pork shoulder or pork ribs. Pork seems to respond better to a rub than beef. For brisket and beef ribs, I just use salt and pepper with oak smoke, red oak if possible.

Racist......

Guilty. It also helps to throw a couple of handfuls of Pecan shells into the fire box. Not red-headed fire box, smoker fire box.......
