Off Post Referral Advice
 

I got something going on in my foot that 2 sets of x-rays and a CT about 3 weeks apart has yet to diagnose. I was put in for a podiatry consult but told today that they are booked until October. I asked the receptionist about an off-post referral and she said she would put that in motion.

I have never went off-post in my 9 years and I am looking for any advice. How do I manage the process? Any way to sway where I am a sent? Anyway to speed it up? Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated as always.

An alternate choice would be an Orthopedic Surgeon. Not sure what your wait would be, but it is another ave. there is also the urgent care, local Doc-in-Box option too.

Ortho might be worth it. Urgent care is out. This is beyond them. I have been I crutches for over a week with progressing intensity of pain. I have been living on Percocet just to get through the day and sleep at night. I cannot bear any weight and have bruising on my 3rd toe circumferentially and onto the dorsal surface about 1/2 to my ankle. I need a specialist. I have never been through this process in the Army and I am short on patience for civilian hospital employees.

I guess, that an ER visit might be in order. The quick route to a diagnosis would be sitting through the civilian hospital cattle pen. A pain in the ass, but worth the wait at this point. The percocet is fixing nothing, and I am surprised, the folks who ordered the films and scans should have been able to make a diagnosis! The shortest route to a diagnosis is the best route at this point.
