Kinesio Tape

Been using this stuff for years.

Here is a youtube link with a basic tape pattern for tennis elbow. There are other tape configurations out there but the one in this clip is the same one I have been using for years. (gymnastics/wrestling coach)

Good luck, hope this helps.

I had a bout with this in the early nineties, mine was so bad I could not pick things up with my right arm. I ended up getting several cortisone shots in the elbow and wearing some sort of support just ahead of the elbow to relieve the tendon. Do not wait too long to get it looked at . It took awhile to get over it, good luck.

Thanks all,

I am using a strap just before the elbow, helps.

conducting stretching before and after, its helping. it happen to my left arm about a year ago. I was/am holding the frets and pick to hard. I am doing the same for right arm as I did for left arm. Working the opposing muscle groups.

relaxing grip and shorter playing times, back down to an hour.

If pain gets worse , I will see doc.

I can save you a trip to the doc .....

Many years ago a man went to see his Doctor. He was escorted into the examination room where he waited for the doctor, who was at that time, seeing another patient.

After about 45 minutes the doctor finally showed up in the examination room.

"Sorry I'm late" said the doctor. "It's been an absolute madhouse here today. I have two nurses home sick and the other practicing doctor here at the office is tending to his sick child at home. So it's just been me and one assistant, whom you met coming in, and he isn't all that good."

Visibly upset, but understanding in the doctor's explanation as to why he had to wait so long, that man said, "That's okay Doc, we've all had crazy days like this before."

"Thank you for you understanding sir." said the doctor. "Now then, what seems to be your problem today?"

"Well Doc, every time I lift my arm up like this," which the man demonstrates by lifting his right arm straight out and then raising it over his head, "I get this sharp pain in my shoulder."

"Hummmm" says the doctor. "Let's take a look at what we have here."

The doctor begins his examination and asks, "So you say your shoulder hurts when you lift your arm like this?"

"Yes it does."

"But not like this?"

"No it doesn't"

"How about like this?"

"Nope"

"How about now?"

"Nope. Only when I lift it like this."

The doctor leans back looks at the man square in the eye and says, "If your arm hurts when you lift it like this, then don't do that any more."

Getting up and walking towards the door the doctor asks, "Is there anything else I can help you with today? No ... ? Well then, thank you for coming in. I'll send you my bill."

The best thing to do for "tennis elbow", is just don't use it or do anything that causes any type pain. Keep wearing that strap like your doing, but curtail, don't cut down, STOP what causes that "tingle" in your lower arm and hand. Let everything heal up, before picking up that guitar again. :D

I'm not going to stray out of my lane so far as to give medical advice, but when I used to play bass guitar a lot, I found that taking my watch off while playing made a huge difference in whether or not I got pain in my wrist and elbow.

Just something to consider. I found that the extra pressure my watchband put on my wrist really affected my tendons.
