Looking for Colorado CCW instructor to answer ?'s.
I am confused about the new laws in Colorado and how they will affect me carrying when I visit.
I see that at least for now, Colorado will recognize my New Mexico permit ( per this site http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_ca...city_maps.html). What I really need to know are the important pieces of information such as... in NM you can carry concealed in a WalMart that sells alcohol, but you cannot open carry in that same WalMart. I just want to make sure I don't do anything wrong. So, if you are an instructor, or had a good instructor, what were the critical pieces of info that you learned from your course? |
I am not an instructor, but most of the laws, except for reciprocity, are here:
http://www.dcsheriff.net/documents/c...ion-packet.pdf Nothing in the packet provided by the sheriff discusses establishments that sells/serve alcohol. You cannot carry and be under the influence of alcohol however. You can carry a loaded handgun in your car, even to those post-office (as of this week) http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/11/us/guns-post-office Basically, it is:
I don't know how the 15 round magazine ban affects out of state residents. I probably would not bring any, especially if you were going through Denver or Boulder. |

Regarding the Standard and High Capacity ban... After July 1, 2013 individuals may not purchase any magazine that has a greater than 15rnd capacity. If you owned it prior to, then you are 'grandfathered'. You also may not buy or transfer a weapon between parties without obtaining a background check first. Open carry is prohibited in Denver County. Possibly in Boulder, Grand and or Park counties as well. http://www.handgunlaw.us/ Your NM permit is honored in CO. |
Thank You
Gentlemen,
thank you for your replies. At least now I have more places to look to ensure I stay out of trouble. Cake |
