50 BMG upper barrel length?
 

So, I have an opportunity to replace my stolen Serbu BFG-50 with a SHTF upper.
It's offered in 18" / 22" or 29" barrel length. Do I need to get the 29", if I'm not going to shoot 1000yds?
I had a 36" on the BFG-50 & that was too much (48lbs & 55"+ long).
I would like something more manageable. Don't mind a little compromise, but I don't want to waste my money.

Not a spert... BUT in reading their site..

For 3 lbs weight and 300fps gain,, Go for the 29 inch..

What kind of velocity were you getting from the 36 inch barrel??
