Remember when Army was putting pressure on the soldiers in 12th Group to learn Mandarin Chinese because of our capstone mission? Too bad they didn't have the Internet back then or YouTube or laptops. We, (Co C/2nd Bn) were told we could do Mandarin or Korean. Lots of ODAs spent lots of time in S Korea in the 80's.

It depended on the BN. Either Mandarin or Russian. In 3rd BN we were Russian speakers and I spent maybe the best year of my life at DLI learning it.
