The Sword Maker
|
Thank you for finding and sharing.
|
Awesome. Adding to my Christmas wish list, but I'd probably poke my eye out.

Passing on traditions like they are supposed to be. Not watered down by modern times.
Good stuff. |
Thanks.. I have always loved the look and craftsmanship that goes into the Japanese blades. :lifter

Interesting facts...
That is an amazing skill, as far as I know it takes around 30+ years to complete the apprenticeship in Japan. In the days of the Samurai, if a warrior's sword broke in battle it was legal and customary for the Samurai or a member of his family to return to the swordmaker and forcibly insert the peices of the broken sword into the swordmaker's anus, I imagine quality control was a major interest of the swordmaker.

Good stuff. Now I need to watch a Zatoichi movie...

The passion for the craft reminds me of some knifemakers I've met... no names, Bill, Curt, Mark, Gary, Chris, Mick, Ken, et al. but you know who you are.
Amazing piece, thanks. |
LongWire,
Great post, thank you. :lifter |
