M9 Replacement

Gentlemen,

Any idea what the next duty pistol is going to be? I've heard of several of the contenders but I'm curious as to which one will be chosen. Does anyone have any indication or idea?

I hope the FNP-45. At least, that would be my choice...

No one has any indication?

A recent issue of the Army Times had an article discussing your question. I recommend looking it up and making a selection based on your personal preferences. Personnel involved in or with knowlege of the ongoing testing/selection process are prohibited from discussing their findings/deliberations under penalty of law. (FAR) Besides - the military doesn't always get it right when they select new weapons and the military's criterion for purchasing hundreds of thousands of weapons might not make sense for you when purchasing just one.

They're going back to the 1911. Issued accessories will include 3 magazines, a holster, and a Phillipine gunsmith.

A good shooter can accurately use any pistol the Army chooses. Or the Eastern Bloc uses, or the Imperial Empire,,, or the Galactic Starfleet,,,,,,,,,

They are going to make the Mk23 the standard sidearm.

Did your source say whether or not that included the accessory gun carriage and the PX90 workout tapes? :p

I read the Army Times article. I was just wondering which was the front-runner.

I prefer the quote:

"I am the weapon, the gun is just an extension of my range", Unknown......

. . . "Perhaps this will refresh your memory." The District Attorney suddenly thrust a heavy automatic at the quiet figure on the witness stand. "Have you ever seen this before?" Walter Mitty took the gun and examined it expertly. "This is my Webley-Vickers 50.80," he said calmly.

Just the optional vertical fore grip.

Just read the Army Times article.

Ok, if we're going to go from small back to big why stop at the .40? Doesn't all out combat require something bigger than what LEOs carry? Always wondered why our military went with an Italian gunmaker in the M-9.

How about the SIG P-220 for a sidearm? :D
