Test your reaction time
http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/...reaction-time/
If irrevelant here, mods please remove. was working on improving my draw speed w/o sacrificing accuracy. 7 yards, 6 inch plate. I'm stuck at 1.06. Goal is to get as fast as with the airsoft training-aid (yeah...I know:rolleyes:) which was .89 So I tried everything: Economy of motion, zen mind trick, breaking down to stages and rehearsing each separately, caffeine, alternate tai-chi speed and wing chun speed, usw. Then I recall the human reaction time preached at Rogers shooting school. Perhaps if I could see (identify and acquire) or react "faster," I could draw faster. Next I came across this program. Take it as a training aid, or a frustrating game :D No expert here, just thinking out loud |
A pratical application is to have a friend hold a buzzer beside your ear while you face away from target area, hands off weapon.
Upon hearing the alarm, turn (opposite direction) and draw, firing three shots at target 25 ft away. Do that NLT 100 times over the course of 5 days, then take your test and report. Do not be surprised at your results. Enjoy! |

"I guess my gun fighting days are over Marshal Dillon, Here is my Badge", Festus Haggen,,, ,207 best... |
I'm sitting at 198ms. Time decreased when I did not focus directly on the box. My best out of 5 was the last one at 192ms.
Wonder how that correlates to my typing speed, which is after all, what really matters in the job I am in currently. |
That was interesting. Average was 206, fastest was 190.
|
Fun. Average 199.2ms; fastest 179ms.
FYI: Computer monitor lag may influence your scores (see comments on the right side of the screen on the "leaderboard" screen). |
Average external mouse click score, .240 - Average keyboard mouse score, a little better. Think I'll stick to real bullets and shooting skills.
Interestingly enough, not focusing on the screen with either mouse resulted in better scores. Must be something with peripheral vision, predator survival skills when we were first throwing sticks and chasing critters to exhaustion, or running away from critters determined to do us harm. |
I'm not fast, just smooth.
|
My reaction times increase exponentially when someone shoots at me, I hear the hiss of a Moccasin or the buzz of a Rattler's buttons, I'm drinking coffee and reading the paper and out of the blue my wife asks for a status update on that project she wanted done a week ago, etc.

:D You can ID us slow guys by the fact that we refuse to post our scores, but aren't slow enough to lie about them.
