Springfield XD
Anyone have any experience with one of these? Just out of curiosity.

For the money, an EXCELLENT gun.
A good friend of mine has fired close to 10,000 rounds through his, and has nothing but good things to say about it. I've fired a couple of hundred rounds through it, and I like it quite a bit. Not that it will matter in a week and a half, but you can take the .40SW mags and load them with 9mm and get a legal high cap that fits in the 9mm. |
I had an XD-40 for a year and liked it. All in all it offered pretty good value when compaired to Glocks, the SigPro, the H&K's and the Walther's. Mine came in at at $420 but at the time there weren't that many aftermarket parts and no smiths worked on them.

I have heard that Bar-Sto Makes a good Barrel for them. I picked one up this weekend that is chambered in .357 SIG (hence the other thread) and I think I am going to put a Bar-Sto .40 Barrel in it.

Bar-sto makes some of the best after market barrels out there but they are expensive ($200) and you might easily have to wait 4-8 weeks for one. You probably can get a factory barrel pretty quickly and if you are not going to have bar-sto fit it then in some respects it isn't worth the money.
One thing you might not know is that Baretta high-caps are easily modified to work well in the xd. You might want to check out: www.xd-hs2000.com |
I purchased one a year ago and I absolutely love it! I have the 4" service model in 9mm OD green (XD-9 OD )
The only problem I had with it was with the magazine. You can tweak the magazine lips for the .40 and use it as a high-cap for the 9mm. The place I bought it from gave me a .40 mag instead of the 9 and I didn't want to try and tweak it myself and screw it up. I got the original mags and it has rocked ever since. Thw link that rubberneck provided is good. Also check out XD Gear |
