Sudan musicians fear return to the 'Stone Age'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-11812926 This story kinda' wraps up Sudan, South Sudan and Darfur. The time line is interesting. The Peace Accords of 2005 brought Southern Sudanese into the government and allowed a little more "night life" so to say. "............Already in the semi-autonomous south, you can drink a beer in a raucous nightclub, filled with sweaty, scantily-clad dancers near the River Nile. The concern for many in the north is that if the south does split away, the Islamists who still control Khartoum might re-establish their previously dominant vision of society. ............." |
