I think Teddy's correct judging by the cars (all 1947-1958), uniforms, equipment - pre-M14s (which came into use circa 1959) and all. I'd guess somewhere around 1958-1960.
The Big Picture was produced and aired 1951-1964. I used to watch it weekly, along with Victory at Sea and The 20th Century - some of my favorite programs growing up. The LT giving the first aid class @ 8:13 is Marion Mills. After a couple of tours in SEA, he went to seminary and came back in as a Chaplain. He was the 7th Group Chaplain as a MAJ and married my wife and I in the JFK Chapel. For those of us who spent time at Tolz the film is a definite langlauf-tour down memory lane. ;) Richard :munchin |
Very cool!!:D

That was great. It reminded me of that movie with Kirk Douglas, The Heroes of Telemark.
Great clip. Worth the watch.. |
Great find! Fun to watch!
It kind of scares me that my service in SF is closer to that generation of SF than today's generation! :boohoo |
FOG verification
I remember one of the old guys telling me SF never had M14's, went from carbines (m2) to AR-16/XM-16. Anyone able to verify this?
