That is excellent! I always love to hear our national anthem played while the world watches another successful American athlete receive a Gold medal.

The IOC might be a bit narrow minded on that one.

I am sure that you made "The List".

Keep your tin-foil hat on securely and an eye out for black helicopters.

I watched some fencing last night

All they talked about was this girl Seda Jacobson and she didn't even get into the gold medal round

Brings up an interesting point about the TV coverage. There are athletes that they want to win. That they hype and hype and hype to no end

Then some little guy, or gal in this case, comes out of no where to shock the world and the networks are caught flat footed without even a story to show

The Olympics has gone from let's watch these folks do what they do , to let's hype up certain athletes, and should they have family issues, an illness etc all the better

The Reaper 08-18-2004 09:38

Was the winner one of the two sisters competing?

TR

DunbarFC 08-18-2004 09:47

No she wasn't

The older sister won bronze

The younger one was knocked out prior to the medal rounds

Bill Harsey 08-18-2004 10:46

The young Lady, Mariel Zagunis, from Oregon who won this Gold didn't even make the first cut for the US Team until another competitior was a no show. This makes the win even sweeter.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, it was Saber and not foil. slash to the head, totally legal.

Congratulations, Miss Zagunis. Now if it isn't too much trouble, could you please treat my flag with a bit more respect?
