Serious Sunburn

Seriously, what treatment do y'all recommend? :munchin

Team Sergeant 08-15-2004 17:55

You or your family?

NousDefionsDoc 08-15-2004 17:57

Me. Really bad. Blisters all over my back. Had plenty of sunscreen on, but forgot to have Catwoman get the parts of my back I can't reach. :(

Sacamuelas 08-15-2004 18:31

aloe vera plant gel.. copious amounts.

Stay away from the benzocaine topical sprays(ex. Solarcaine)...unless you absolutely need it for pain relief.

recommend one cup of sand being thrown into the sheets before bed... will help remind you not be a dumbass next time. LOL ;)

welcome back:cool:

You laugh, but my kids specialize in transporting sand from wherever they pick it up into my bed. LOL

Affirmative, dumbass.

Had it been one of your family members I would have called Doc T ASAP.

She should be back shortly… I see some others have already come to your aid.

For lawyers, I recommend Atomic Balm, applied with a rotary grinder.

Suck it up, bruddah!!

Since you used proper English by typing " Y'all", I will go further. LOL

RL-
I know they suck.. so I will go a little further in case TR's treatment which seems slightly worse than my sandblaster and rubbing alchohol treatment isn't to "friendly" on ya.

-take my earlier advive on Aloe.

- take Ibuprofen. Take 2 at a time, every 4-6 hours for two days. then as needed which they probably won't be.

- stay hydrated

-you can try cool compresses with equal parts of milk and water. Apply for 15-20 minutes. Change or refresh the cloth and solution every 2-3 hours.

-cool (not ice cold) baths or showers may help. ***Since your in Kali, I will add to avoid bath salts, oils, and perfumes because these may produce sensitivity reactions. No scrubbing or shaving the skin. Don’t rub dry with towel. Moisterizer lotions or I prefer Aloe after.

Good luck

Dos Equis Special Lager? LMAO

Thanks for the advice. I take back everything I said about dentists. :)

Doc T 08-15-2004 19:09

you managed to give yourself second degree burns... otherwise known as sunpoisoning...

treatment would include what saca said regarding ibuprofen or tylenol or whatever you have around to minimize inflammation and help with some of the pain...

if the blisters haven't popped leave them intact... for the popped one, apply some over the counter neosporin or bacitracin would be the treatment I would recommend.

Keep them clean... shower off whatever ointment you put on them twice a day and reapply. I'd recommend ivory or dial soap as that was what we used to use in the burn unit.

good luck and call if you have any questions...

Thank you, Doctor. I think I am well supplied to follow your recommendations.

We did have a great time while I was frying myself. The beach at Sandestin is better than any I have been to in Southern California. The girls would love it if you guys want to join us one of these years. :)

Razor 08-17-2004 11:23

Saca, why the milk with the compresses?

DoctorDoom 09-06-2004 01:43

Sacamuelas 09-06-2004 11:54

Sorry about that Razor. I missed your question and did not see it. It appears that DD answered it for me.

BTW- I was gonna say "because my momma said so, and it worked on me as a child!" Of course, DD's fats and proteins sounds good too. LOL
