Going from non SF to SF warrant officer?
 

I have done a bit of researching lately into this but anything related to warrant officers in general is pretty limited.

My question is, can a enlisted/warrant officer who is not in SF go into SF as a warrant officer? From what i have read Warrant officers are experts in their respective field. So i am wondering, if the army took all that time and resources to make a person an expert in one field wouldn't they rather keep him there?
And about the enlisted part, i am wondering if an enlisted person can go straight into the SF warrant officer position, or if they must first make it into SF and then after a while (and 2 SF MOS' ?) they can "apply" for it.

To become an 180A you have to be an 18 series MOS. Used to be that you had two 18 series MOSs but may only be one now.

I am growing increasingly weary of people who join and quickly start a new thread asking a question that could have been easily found by googling or searching this site. Laziness is not an attribute that we are looking for.

This board represents an opportunity to ask vetted SF personnel questions and their time is limited.

If I continue to see new members asking stupid questions, we are going to have fewer, but better members.

In your specific case, FeaReD, you are so far from the question being relevant to you that it is completely asinine and without any merit.

It's kind of funny ... post's exactly like this one, seem to make up at least 15% of the content in this forum.

That probably parallels the number of people on these forums who expect to be hand-held and personally escorted to the answer because they are too self-absorbed to be bothered to look it up for themselves.

Your question about the ASVAB, which is really not related to SF, would be a good example. The ASVAB and its mechanics are posted all over electronic and print media, and does not require a SF senior NCO to answer. Yet with your second post, you decided to start a new thread about it. Maybe you learned from that, and maybe you did not. This comment is an indicator to me of the latter.

The really funny thing is that while we could just delete all of the stupid questions, we leave them up as examples of things not to ask, and people still don't bother to read them or to learn from them.

Frankly, someone who is not motivated or intelligent enough to do a google search for the SF Warrant Officer accessions program or to read the SF Warrant Officer thread on this forum before asking, probably lacks the characteristics we are looking for to become a Special Forces soldier. It is highly doubtful that someone who is that lazy is going to be able to sustain himself through the SFAS program and display the characteristics we are assessing for. SFAS is demanding, and we select a very small portion of those who apply and who meet our high standards. The video games that seem to provide the majority of information for some of our readers in no way approximates the effort required to become a Special Forces soldier, or to serve on a team in that capacity.

As explained in the stickies, there are a lot of people who come here worried about what they are going to do far down the road in their SF career, when well over 90% of them will never serve the first day as an SF soldier. We tell them to worry about engaging the 25 meter target first. Most who want to be successful take that advice to heart. We do have our 10% here who are either incredibly stupid, lazy, or who are looking for a fight.

I have read every post on this board, since we stood it up six years ago. I am amazed that you have been able to do the same in the short time you have been here. You must be a really fast reader. After six years, there are not very many good questions that have not been previously asked. There do appear to be a large number of posters, particularly new ones who do not bother to read the rules or stickies, or to do even a cursory search before asking either a stupid question, like this one, or one that has been answered adequately before.

As Einstein said, there are only two things that are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and he was not sure about the former.

Many good questions have been asked and answered here. The QPs on this board are generally pretty busy, and answering the same question because someone else did not want to expend the energy searching and reading, or to follow the rules which are clearly posted is a waste of our time. If you do not see the value in reading "A Message to Garcia", then you may be one of those people who just doesn't get it. Nothing wrong with that, it is just an indicator of suitability, IMHO.

A significant number of the younger QPs on PS.com found sufficient information here to be able to be selected and to satisfactorily complete the SFQC, and to return to this board to offer their advice as well. There are cadre members from SFAS and the SFQC posting here, as well as team members, past and present and some recruiters.

I doubt that you will find another board with this number of vetted QPs who take their time to respond to questions. Most of them have jobs, families, and lives of their own that take time, and they contribute to the discussions here out of a love for the Regiment and a concern for the future of it. Perhaps one day, when you have found your calling, have a career and a family, you can decide how and when you will expend your personal time to disseminate advice to others. In the meantime, if this forum does not meet your needs, you are free to look elsewhere.
