Requesting Info on Nighstalker Pilots?
Hey, all.
I'm 15 and intent on joining the Army as a helicopter pilot, hopefully one day joining the Nighstalkers. I know about the challenges of succeeding in military aviation, Special Forces, etc, etc...but I was wondering if you guys had any firsthand knowledge about them, seeing as some of you were most likely put into an AO by them. Thanks in advance! |
It nice to see young men interested in the U.S. Armed Forces. My advice would be: Good grades, a career in HS sports, (i.e., Track/Field, etc.). Math, Computer Science, Electronics, Meteorology, History and Language. Zero drug use, zero crime record.
To answer your question about experience. I'll tell you one story. Had a friend who served as a 11B/C, E5/SGT while attending school at a local college, after completion of his degree, which was not easy due in part he was serving in the 82nd Abn, he applied for Rotary Wing Flight school, his age 26 at the time. He had always wanted to fly, thought a career as a regular soldier would help, it did. He chose "Lift" choppers over "Attack", seems he got more hours, averaged 400-500 annually. This was before the Blackhawks, Cobras were cool, but always down for maintenance. I ran into him several years later, CW3 rank looked good on him. Put your trust in your team, put the needs of your country ahead of your own. Walk the warriors path. In the end, you'll have no regrets. WD Quote:

Future, did you read the board rules before starting this?
Also, you do understand the difference between SF, SOF, and SOA, do you not? It is good to have long-term goals, but you are way too far out to be worrying about service in the 160th. For a starter, you are not going to be going to West Point if you do not make Army height-weight standards. Focus on being a good son, student, and person. TR |

what's next? "Special Forces Yadda yadda?" |
futuresoar,
The Reaper told you about our rules and they do apply to you. No more posting until you're older. You've been given great advice by a handful of Special Forces soldiers, aka Green Beret's, now do as you were told. You can post again when you're 17. And this thread is now closed. Team Sergeant |
