Yukon Elk

Here's one to get your attention.
This bull was killed in the Yukon on 9-25. Elk were put in there in 1958 from Yellowstone Park. This was the first year they have been hunted. They drew for 15 permits. The hunter is Al Klassen. He's been a sheep guide in the Yukon and Northwest Territories and has personally guided over 100 Dall Ram kills. Preliminary gross score... 451 5/8  :lifter |
Very impressive animal. Best meat I ever had was elk tenderloin killed in Montana and cooked over an open flame in the Central Pennsylvania mtns.

Wow. Hunt of a lifetime there.
That is close to the 'Spider Bull'. |
Wow! Thats a huge elk, nice going!!! What happened to the meat???????????
|
Massive,, I've seen racks with a bunch of tines,, but they are generally short and thin spikes off the main trunk tines. This truly is a massive rack..
What was the rack measured at?? |
Wait for it...
Wait for it... Wait for it... Nice rack! |
That's a lot of knife handles he's packing out.

Kings outdoors said the bull was measured at 451 Gross and will only net 401. I say only, but that is a massive bull, It's too bad that they penalize the animal for being so jacked up on the head:p. I can't remember the Gross score of the Spider bull that was shot in Utah last year, but I do believe it was around 500.
Edit: After looking up the Spiderbull, After the 60 day drying period he measured at 501 Gross and 480 Net. I'm not sure where this bull is going to stand on the all time list as the previous world record was 465", but can you imagine what the Yukon holds if this bull was shot in the first year of hunting? |
