What's his problem?
1 Attachment(s)
An X-Ray, made of the stomach of a 62-year-old man who came to the emergency room. He had a history of major psychiatric illness, was suffering from stomach pain, and could not eat or move his bowels.
What is it? (x-ray reading practice) |
Cut him open and find out:munchin

Damn, if I didn't know better I'd say it looks like he took a bite out of a porcupine.
Jack Moroney |
Quarters?
|
he either swallowed or inserted up his rectum a LOT of foreign objects...
Some look like needles or bobby pins.. the large ovoid structure could be anything... its probably metalic due to its opacity on xray... You realize that this is pushing the limits of a "SF medic" related thread. A freak show every now and then is good for the forum though. ;) LOL |
I know.
At least it was an idiot frenchman... |

An X-Ray, made of the stomach of a 62-year-old man who came to the emergency room of Cholet General Hospital in western France in 2002. He had a history of major psychiatric illness, was suffering from stomach pain, and could not eat or move his bowels. Doctors discovered an enormous opaque mass in his stomach that turned out to weigh 12 pounds. The patient had swallowed around 350 coins, along with assorted necklaces and needles. (02/18/04 The New England Journal of Medicine 2004) Guess this confirms the psychiatric illness. Now, back to your regularly scheduled med forum. |

Perhaps the consumer of indigestibles you refer to is Monsieur Mangetout (aka Michel Lotito), who ate a Cessna 150. "He apparently possesses a stomach and intentine with walls of twice the expected thickness, his digestive acids are also unusually powerful allowing him to actually digest a certain portion of his metallic meals." a line from a movie I watched last night: "Kindy inform Major Heyward that he has little to fear from this General Marquis de Montcalm in the first place; and scant need of a colonial militia in the second because the French haven't the nature for war. Their Gallic indifference combines with their Latinate voluptuousness with the result that they would rather eat and make love with their faces than fight." |
That's the one. Monsieur Mangetout. I wonder, with a name like that, if he's attractive to the women? :D
I always wondered if his stomach worked more than ours, thank you for confirming my suspicions. Now I can give up my dreams of eating forks to get a date. Last of the Mohicans is a fine movie. I read the book when I was a kid and cried and cried and cried. Solid |
