Kahr .45 vs Glock 36

Currently I use the USPc .45 for daily carry and love it.

But now am looking at these two models for EDC during the hot summer months or for formal wear as an easier concealable sidearm.

Both are chambered in .45ACP which is my favorite round and would mean I dont have to stock different ammo.

Any thoughts on these models?

As far as Kahr, is the P or PM model more preferable?

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions-

I have carried the Glock 36 for years. Comfortable to carry, decent accuaracy.
Have never had a malfuction with it.

YMMV

Kahrs are junk. Some people have been "lucky" and got ahold of a reliable Kahr, but I've been through a few of them and wouldn't trust them as a range gone, let alone something my life depended on. They're very overpriced, too.

The Glock 36 is reliable and proven and cheaper.

Run screaming from Kahr.

Huh....

I want to say Ive heard that somewhere before. However, I took a pitol class recently ,taught by one of our local SWAT guys who had a Kahr and he really liked it.

One of the advantages of the Kahr is how slim it is.

But, nothing beats realiability. I dont own any range guns. Only carry or real world use-

*Content of the negative "Gun-Tests.com" review on the PM45 removed.

I saw from a post, a good while back, that those types of reviews aren't appreciated here. Sorry for the confusion.

I will say I haven't fired the Kahr in 45, however I do own a Kahr in 9mm and have carried it personally on the job as a back up and put over a thousand rounds through it with 0 malfunctions. With that being said I will say the guys I know who tried the Kahr in 45 said the recoil was significant, but that's a trade off for the concealability. As for reliability, again I've had no trouble with mine.

I have heard guys who say they know guys who had issues with Kahrs but I have yet to meet one who's had issues with them that I could verify knew how to shoot. What you'll find with Glocks and I would guess with Kahr's as well, is that if you limp wrist the gun it will jam allot, which may be why some folks have issues with them, I haven't tested this theory on the Kahr as I don't shoot limp wristed, but I have seen it many, many times our range with Glocks, both models 21 and 36, usually with rookie cops with very little trigger time.

Just something to consider.

I prefer the SIG P245 for a compact .45 though I do like the ergonomics of the Kahr. I would speculate that between the two guns you listed, the Glock will be running long after the Kahr is in a recycle bin somewhere.

Every Kahr I've seen in even moderate round count training exercises has gone down for the count. I expect that the Glock would outlast even my P245 though that gun has gone through several high round count classes without a burp or bobble.

I've never owned either of the two weapons but I really like My Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro (3rd Generation). It's my daily CCW. I never leave home without it.

I can recommend a Kahr CW (concealed weapon) .45 cal. The polymer (read: plastic) slide is unusual, and it needs to be fired, cleaned, then fired again several times to settle in. But is is light, small and accurate.
