The following video is rather disturbing, considering the inaction of the London Police in the face of repeated attacks. Winston Churchill must be turning over in his grave.

Watching that video concerns me.. as it should many. Law Enforcement are our first line of defense on the streets and these "bobbies" have shown a total lack of organization and crowd control. It's shameful. Many of these "marches" are announced way ahead of time in order to maximize as much attendance as possible. As we can see from the on going "marches", it is escalating. Eventually it will come to full blown riots (injury/death to civilians, LEOs and damage to property...remember the riots and burnings in France?) if they don't start to nip in the butt now. IMHO I think that eventually the rights of these troublemakers (and I see these marches as just opportunities for criminals and troublemakers) start to go out the window when the lives of LEOs and civilians and property come into danger.

Exactly, if you notice they lacked the proper riot gear as well, short batons, no shields, few face masks, and yes a total lack of understanding of LE crowd control procedures. The crowd was large from what I saw, but not so large as to be uncontrollable with proper procedures and the correct gear. We also don't know what their orders were. Having worked for a completely broken Department they could have been told not to engage unless.... Even so they were ill equipped/trained for the task at hand. Just as many of our small departments are, I can only hope that was a wakeup call to that organization.

No, this is the stupidity of political leaders without balls. They place the police out there is a situation that they cannot win as they are not allowed to be properly equipped for the situation. They are probably told NOT to cause an incident and to give ground if pressed. To be sure and not make any "bad press" on the videos.

Been there and have had this happen to us in other situations. In the late 60s and early 70s when Jane the b***h Fonda and her companion Donald "the puke" Southerland were running around making with similar BS in the US. On Oki in 71 the Koza riots were full bore with burning cars etc, and the highers refused to arm us as we might shoot someone, yeah it is called self defense. They wanted us to retreat and not engage. We finally turned them when they were threatening the Dependant housing area.

I have no idea how many of you guys have actually been in those situations but it is very different from combat and the politics are pure BS but drive the train.

There also had to be some fear of one of those protestors having a bomb strapped to them, or other weapon. They were not dressed for the occasion at all, and that blame rests solely on their higher command. Shameful.

I do not understand the European mindset on these "protests," whether it be the anti-Israeli protests, the Algerian car-burning in Paris, or the Greek anti-police riots.

Look at the videos and you will see fully masked, often helmet wearing "peaceful" protesters marching with weapons, including Molotov cocktails, steel rods, rocks, and sometime guns, yet the police/military simply face them and allow them to do whatever they want.

If the crowd wants to jump up and down on a car, they allow it, including police cars. If they want to break into a store and steal -- an action having nothing at all to do with the "message" of the "protest" -- the police stand by.


In my opinion, snipers should be at the scene, as a minimum with bull barrel .22 rimfires, and "ping" any protester with: a mask overing his/her face, a helmet or who throws any object at a policeman. And possession of a weapon, including a Molotov cocktail, rates an upgrade to 7.62mm in the ten ring.

This is what I find very disturbing; Political leaders that make the 'easy wrong' decision rather than the 'hard right.' I am willing to bet the London street cops are disgusted, especially if they were instructed to avoid at all costs, 'escalating' the situation.

It is a sad day when we allow the thugs to run amok in order to minimize the risk of the thugs running amok.
