Ported S+W Model 25, sight question
 

I have an early model S+W 25, had a nice port job, but front sight is not pinned, so I have to add or replace same. I do not really want to change the barrel. Anyone with experience on front sight replacement with Smith and wesson that are not pinned? Looks like someone epoxied a brass rod for a sight.
