Ideas for Improving the TMC 14 Forum
 

Ok, let's hear them. We want the best med forum on the internet. Any and all ideas are welcome. All will not be accepted, but they need to be put out there.

I insist on, and I'm sure you guys will agree, that this needs to be the "The Place" for tactical medicine. I am committed to it, as I'm sure Eagle is. So let's get it right.

No such thing as intruding either. Lay it out there.

One other thing - you don't have to be a medic or a Doc to have a comment.:D

What about adding another Med Gear specific forum?

I know there is already a forum for Personal Equipment, but I would imagine unlike RAV's, slings, Rucks, etc... the gear SOF Medical personnel utilize is MOS specific. It could be for new items on the market, kit bags, fanny packs, stethos, etc.

Just a thought.

Organize/rename the forums into:
1. Trauma protocols and scenarios forum
2. Non-trauma/disease related forum
3. Other medical cross-training skill sets
4. General medical questions/protocols/principles
5. Topics suggestions/wish list
6. Useful links

***Topic suggestions only for the "let's cover a XXX type case" type post , NOT for the actual thread/scenarios that address this topic. Whoever then starts the actual discussion thread decides which of the above categories to start it in. Then just make a single reply in the "topic suggestion" thread referring everyone to which forum to look in for the actual discussion/thread. This would allow a quick check for everyone looking to help without having to read every thread to identify questions/problems that need to be answered.

Just thinkng out loud here.
 

Damn tooth puller beat me to it.

Throw in some React To Fire and CAS for good measure in some of the scenarios and we could not only cover the treatment side of the house, but also priority of action under duress.

Good ideas. Lets wait a while and see what Doc T and the non-medical members of the board come up with.

Six forums is probably too many, it will take up the whole screen

I don't think we need a whole forum for it, but I would like to see something about books to keep on hand. Because of you guys I have bought several books to try and understand what your talking about, but it is sort of hit or miss.

Medical libraries are a very personal issue. The latest "recommended book list" for PA's is about 350 different titles :rolleyes:
You start getting too specialized with your texts...you are probably digging into an area that is better treated by someone with "mo skewlin".
Good idea though...KEEP 'EM COMING!!!

I recommend dropping #3 and #4. Both can be lumped into the trauma or nontrauma forums depending on topic.

I agree with Eagle, books needed should be specific to your occupation,education level, and needs. IMO, they are to expensive to collect for internet references. Just my gross/neuro anatomy collection of books runs well over over $500. (grants,netters, liebgott, shearers, nolte, haines, etc) Single books can reach upwards of $150 or more in some subjects. If you don't need them for school or your profession, it is not cost effective to buy them. Use the internet.

I worded my statement wrong. Books with terminology. I.e. Grays Anatomy

My PERSONAL favorites for Anatomy and Physiology learning (and price) are the Anatomy Coloring Book and Physiology Coloring book
Get those and a GOOD set of colored pencils, you will literally be etching that stuff into your brain and have a terrific reference as well.

Also like Tabers and The Merck Manual
