Back to Legacy?
Im headed to the Q in February and have heard a rumor that they are changing back to the legacy language program, instead of breaking it into blocks. Is there any truth to this? Has anyone heard anything?
|
Yes - or at least I've heard the same rumor from reliable sources. I don't know when it becomes official. You've got more important things to be concerned about right now.

Peregrino is right...Language is step 67 in a lifelong process...so far you have done steps 1-3. Something to learn early-RUMORS cause nothing but trouble. Don't spread them, or participate in them. You will be viewed in a much better light by those you deal with. Eagle |
Understood, I was just trying to clear it up, as one of the first steps is Language Block 1, but I understand and will drive on. Thanks for the advice.

"THEY" have also been saying SUT would be shortened, and this and that for quite some time. Lesson: students perpetuate, create, and love rumors regarding the course.

People rely on GPS toooooo much. I have seen a lot of that in the last few years. We had a team here in the fall and when the GPS died not a one had a compass and protractor. Thank god the old retired guy was out there with his solar charged compass and plastic nav aids.
EDITED to add: I was not Team bashing just pointing out that You need a good foundation in the basics and you can never have enough LandNav training. This is where More is always better. If you can not get to and from a TGT you can not send them to their maker. Back to the Basics is always good and Technology is not always a solution. Gentlemen get as much as you can and keep practicing it through out your time on a team and later in life. |
Sad

Now that is sad. My little girls have a compass, water pur. tabs, knife and other sundry survival items in in their hiking fanny packs along with two water bottles. And they know how to use the items. They also know how to print out a map of the area they will be hiking in. We are working on their map reading skills this winter. |

So, I agree that GPS is turning land nav into a hand held computer game, but given by definition that half the class is below average, it sure makes up for a multitude of sins. |

My kids are also well versed in Survival and Land Nav skills. Hell I keep trying to teach them how to follow directions while driving but that may never be accomplished. Put them in the woods and they are right on target. In scouts the kids were smoken at land nav and would have made any father or Team proud of how well they moved through the woods. Never hurt that of our 30+ kids more than half of the dads were on a team. A little peer pressure from the dads as to whose kids would finish 1st on the compass course..... Keep up the work that will be one less woman that can not navagate.:D |

What are their Q-Course dates?:munchin |

Sounds like more of a P.A.C.E. issue. Remember studs always have a backup. Whether it is a plan, land nav route, weapon, compass (some say women too) always have a backup. |
We ain't goin' there

I think this spring break I'm going to try and get the older ones into the Paraclet Skydiving Tower. If they like that ------- Maybe a tandum jump out at Reaford this summer ------ as long as the wife don't find out about it until after:D. Then I can say "Don't go out with anybody with less jumps than you." |
Back to the original question regarding legacy... The answer is yes. I just got back from Mackall today having got liberated from the uh "training lab" on Thursday. My TAC let us know that we were officially the last non-legacy class, until of course they change it again in a month or two. Good luck with the course... and the guys here are right man... don't look to far ahead. The course is tough enough as it is, but looking beyond a phase makes that phase much more difficult. You find yourself less committed to it and in phase II that is not something you can afford.

This is very true my class was pushed back till Apr 14th when the next French block will start. good luck guys and stay focused..
