prescription eyewear

I am interested in your reccomendations for prescrition eyewear for use during OSUT, BAC, SOPC I and the rest of the SF pipeline. I understand that I will be issued a set of the BCG's during OSUT, but I am interested in something that offers a little more performance and protection. I have read here that Oakley's are generally preferred, and I couldn't agree more. I have several pair, including my prescription glasses. In civilian life, I wear contact lenses daily, and I understand that these will not be allowed for use during any point in my training, so I would like to purchase appropriate prescription eyewear that I'll be able to use. I appreciate your reccomendations.

chittnp Don't spend your money the Army will issue your Galsses for wear. Some really good glasses for BCT, OUST. Your Glasses BCG

Someone that has been in the last year chime in please.

During your Airborned school (BAC) you can go downtown to Peachtree Mall and go to one of those One hour eyeglass store to get some made. If you go that route, some good flexable frames or the "Ranger Glasses" will work too. You don't need to spend a lot of Money.

Once your get to SFQC - depending on when you get here if its still going on. During Ph 3 you can get PRK done if you like.

This topic has been covered and a search will reveal it.

Thanks for the suggestion MtnGoat, I just remember how uncomfortable the BCG's I was issued were, and I was hoping to avoid them if possible. When we qualified with the rifles at Navy Bootcamp, we had to wear protective goggles over the BCG's, mine were so scratched I couldnt even see the end of the rifle! Needless to say I didn't qualify.

Kyobanim, If this thread is redundant, please delete it. I searched and found 3 threads discussing eyewear, and they didn't cover prescription eyewear. I apologise.
