Women in Delta Force?
Hi, I’m a 22 year old woman and I’m from the USA.
What advice would you give to a woman that wants to be a Delta Force assaulter? How does the Delta community feel about women joining them? If you had to go to Delta Force selection again, how would you prepare differently? Has a woman ever graduated from the Operators Training Course? I’m 5’8” and 173lbs, is that a good or bad size? What books or workout programs would you recommend to prepare for it? |
Have you ever noticed that there are exactly zero women in the NFL?
Just asking……. Why do you think that is? |
hmm... these kind of posts always raise my intel radar...

A nearly guaranteed process to get answers to your questions:
Step 1: Join the Army--preferably as an Infantryman, Combat Engineer, or Artillery forward observer to get experience in heavy load carriage and operating in austere environments. Step 2: Learn everything you can about your job and how it contributes to combined arms operations. Step 3: Do everything you can to excel in job. (Pick one or more of the following; may not be sequential) Step 4A: Successfully complete RASP1 and be assigned to the 75th Ranger Rgt Step 4B: Successfully complete Ranger School Step 4C: Apply for and successfully complete ARSOF training Step 4D: Speak to an Army Special Mission Unit Recruiter |

Or could it be that pro sportsball is controlled and dominated by a systemic and toxic patriarchy with a goal of abusing their privilege and refusing to extend an equity of outcome to those that feel the need to validate their individual self worth at the risk of causing a detriment to an otherwise gender-neutral but goal oriented outcome? I don't know the answer you seek, I'm just spitballing... |

These studies show that women are built for endurance and outperform men in ultramarathons: https://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/f...races_.13.aspx https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33502701/ “Women are shown to be less susceptible to fatigue, which means that when they are doing strength exercises, they can go on for longer than men. And the difference isn’t trivial; in research studies, women keep performing, rep after rep, for 60% longer than men doing the same resistance exercise. Better still, in the second half of the menstrual cycle, when progesterone is high, this effect is amplified.” - The Female Body Bible by Dr. Emma Ross, Dr. Bella Smith and Baz Moffat, page 160 “Certain characteristics of women’s physiology may also provide an advantage in marathon swimming. Women tend to have a higher body fat composition in comparison to men, something that’s considered a disadvantage in most other sports. But in swimming, higher body fat percentage translates to added buoyancy, meaning athletes don’t have to work as hard to stay afloat. Over an eighty-seven-year period, the fastest woman to ever cross the Catalina Channel in California bested the fastest man by twenty-two minutes. When it comes to swimming a lap around the island of Manhattan, the top ten women were 12 to 14 percent quicker than the top ten men based on thirty years of finishing times.” - Up to Speed: The Groundbreaking Science of Women Athletes by Christine Yu, page 97 |
Titania,
The first thing you have to do is join the Army. Cherry picking "studies" do not show what is like in the Army. Studies are academic, the Army is real. We were doing ops with ~120 lbs rucks, on top of the other equipment. Well one night a MP Company Commander was in the Team Room drinking with us, she was a smart and sharp lady. She wanted to send a female E4 out with us. After drinking for about an hour she needed to use the latrine so I escorted her down stairs to the loo. On our trip back I said, "Ok, I've been shot, carry me back to the Team Room." She made it about 15 meters, stopping before the stairs. I then asked her, how the E4 was going to carry her 120 lb ruck and a wounded teammate or her ruck and the teammate's 120 lb ruck? She said, "she can't." A few of those ops were 3-weeks long. On one I was in a hide-site 21 days. You cannot leave the hide-site for anything; how is that going to work out for you? The unit recruits almost all of their operators from the Rangers or SF. So join the Army, go the the Rangers, then go to SF, then reassess what you want to do. |
She never stated her qualifications other than being a couch potato.

Everytime I see or read something that tries to compare a civilian sporting event with life in the Army I'm reminded of an old story/exchange a teammate sent me:
Host: So General, how similar are head injuries in SOF to football injuries? CG: Well, let’s try this on for size…what happens when one of your players get hurt on the field? Host: the whistle blows and we stop the play. The trainers come out on the field and make the assessment. CG: do they rub dirt on it or take a knee, face outward and drink water? Host: if they need water, a water boy will run that out to the field. CG: that is amazing, we have guys from the team on the field of battle attend to our Soldiers as well, they carry their own water. Except there is no whistle, they keep playing. Host: wow, I can imagine what that would be like in a football game. CG: imagine if you had to take two of your players to pull the injured player off the field but the ball remains in play the whole time. And the injured player may get hit again so he needs to be protected by others, maybe one or two. Host: that would make the game interesting. CG: that’s ok, it becomes difficult when the injured guy is your medical guy and there are two men down. Now we’re talking football. Host: so you are saying to play the game continuously…even after there is an injury. CG: No sir, I am saying you CAN’T stop the game, it continues. But don’t worry, there is a flanking maneuver where some of the other team can hit you from the side. Let’s say four or five players come from the sideline, and the only way to stop them is to push them back off the field. Host: that seems to be a little excessive. CG: you wanted to compare football injuries with the guys on the battlefield, not me. Host: just comparing the injury, not the combat. CG: we are only talking about getting hit and scoring with a few things added. We haven’t even got to the part where we shut the lights off…. It didn't happen, it was a joke...but really wasn't. She was built for endurance and marathon swimming...until she got hit. |

So yeah…. I wonder why? Maybe, like Box says, I’m just a misogynistic asshole who subscribes to the “men are superior” mindset that has been perpetrated by other misogynists throughout the ~4,000 years of “boys and girls”…… Or maybe I’m just hungry and it’s almost thanksgiving…… |
The Ferrari 308 GTB is a thing of beauty. It is one of the finest sports cars in the world. The curves, the stances, the handling; the Ferrari 308 GTB is an engineering wonder that sits near the top of the automotive pyramid. The comfort level and interior amenities are second to none. Simply put, it is a supercar.
It is INCREDIBLY expensive - but the best costs money. - the best needs a lot of maintenance. - the best needs a lot of tender loving care. - the best is just, well.... its the best The 1996 Ford F-150 with the 300 CID "big six" engine is not fast. It's not sexy. The gas mileage isn't all that good. It isn't very fast. It doesn't handle all that well. it isnt very comfortable. It's cheap. It's easy to maintain. Nobody cares if it gets dented up. It can take tons of abuse and keep doing what it was designed to do. Now... Fill both of them with five hundred pounds of bricks, and race them from the north end of Sicily Drop Zone to the south end of Sicily Drop Zone as fast as the vehicle will go, on a rainy day without using any of the trails or the airfield... ...off road only.. ...and do it with 87 octanee pump gas. Watching one of these vehicles make the journey will be incredibly boring. Watching the other one make this exact same journey with the exact same load under the exact same conditions is going to break your fucking heart. The finely tuned suspension is going to be ruined. The body is going to sustain damage that will ruin the value of the car. If the vehicle makes it to the finish line without getting stuck or disabled, it will still take weeks of expensive repairs by a specially trained mechanic to restore the vehicle to its original condition. That shitty fucking pickup truck may even be called on to help tow that wonderful fucking sports car back to main post. Some of you may ask, "what the fuck am I even talking about" ...nothing ...nothing at all The story above has no correlation to current events whatsoever. |
Another great analogy.

Are you a biological female or identity female?

One day I was getting worked on by a Group PT (whose husband happened to be a medically retired 11B, so she had a pretty good idea what the physical costs of our lifestyle were). The patient next to me was a 24yo super fit (scoring 300 on male APFT standards, 8-10 dead hang pull-ups, etc.) "hot runner" intel female who was trying to decide between going to TFO selection or Green to Gold. The conversation between her and the PT went something like this.
"Well, what do you want to do? You already had reconstructive surgery on one ankle and you need it on the other one." "If I get surgery than I won't be able to go to selection or do Green to Gold because I will be on a medical profile. Can I put it off?" "Sure, but eventually you will end up half crippled. I told you, your best option is to medically separate, go to college, and live your life." This was a conversation between a mature, very driven, very professional woman who knew what she was talking about and a very young, very inexperienced, and overly self-confident woman. Discretion is the greater part of valor and sometimes you got to ask, am I the right person for the job. x/S |

Excellent article and valid.
The Brits found the same physical degradation when they ran tests on female infantry in the 1980's. Their finding was that the best and brightest of females in service will be medically discharged due to injury...do we want that to happen? The test was ignored on political grounds as is the norm today still. |

Interesting thread.
I will say we had a very competent lady at Blue Light with us. A very valuable member of the team. |

She was not humping a 110 lb ruck...and if she had, for any length of time, she would have self withdrawn due to physical injury. No one is questioning the valor or patriotism of female soldiers.... not I. All of the services need volunteer's and females do so and with my appreciation. It is the application of setting them up for failure on the horns of political correctness that is both dishonorable and detrimental. |
