Motivational Music

What songs do you listen to in order to motivate yourself? For those of you who listen to hip hop/rap, my favorite motivational song is Go Getta by Lil Wayne. I feel this song can directly be applied toward anyone going to selection and on the path toward being an operator.

I would suggest that it is not the song that motivates the individual,

But the individuals motivation that creates the song..

Those that succeed at any level are self motivated.

Now what kick ass music did I enjoy when I was young & pumped??

YMMV..

Pure greatness. I especially enjoyed the first one, what a great voice that soldier has! I just love it. Melody, rhythm, pitch, harmony, crescendo, descendo...someone who can actually carry a tune (like Croce as well)- thats the kind of music that just pumps me up. Thanks for sharing these choices, JJ.

Me too JJ.

Also, anytime I hear Stranglehold by Ted Nugent, I want to kill something...

My sister runs marathons and she usually supports some cause or another in the process.
She offers to add "your song" to her motivation ipod for a donation. I have to pay double to get this one on it. It's one of the last on her play list. It's a "good race, D, if I don't get too it"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5puA...8HbP54didjDDek
She doesn't charge me at all for the 'Ballad" but refuses "Roland" no matter what I offer.

Warren, I miss you.

Motivational music

Decided I might jump in on this one. The following three songs are, in my opinion, well suited for their related activities.

At the gym on heavy lift days: Disturbed "Droppin' Plates"

On long runs/rucks: Stevie Ray Vaughn "Texas Flood" (Hence my name)

Hitting the bag: Godsmack "Bad Religion"

A popular song with a couple of guys I lift with is "Indestructible" by Disturbed.

However, if Im out training in the woods, I find that no music is the best music, especially in early June.

Motivational Music

Greetings everyone,

Truthfully, I don't let much motivation come from any music I listen to, but rather from within myself. Either way, here are a few I do get some motivation from:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaTqrdZ_cgQ

For those who listen, hope you enjoy. Have a great day everyone.

Natural ambience of the forest preserves.

Drumming has been a large influence in my life and music to me, and many, is a form of art. What it means to one is entirely different from another, that's why it is so fantastic.

tonyz 08-18-2011 16:12

I enjoyed some of the songs posted by others so I will contribute something.

Remake Bad Company - 5 Finger Death Punch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNHlV...BDA7A005A2E02A

I listened to the original version by Bad Company when I was a kid - but now think that I actually prefer the remake - can’t say that often about a remake.

Irishsquid 08-18-2011 17:07

I don't listen to music while training...but I will generally listen to the Ballad before a long run or ruck. I remember finding an old 45 of that song when I was about 6 years old...I used to listen to it over and over...and then go jump off the swingset in my back yard, "practicing PLFs."

I listen to a lot of Three Days Grace and Five Finger Death Punch. The power and speed of their auditory assaults pumps me up to no end.

I know it's corny, but I laughed my a$$ off at that. Reminds me of the many nights I spent with co-workers at karaoke in Asia....
