Do not ever tell me I can't do something, including making %$#^&*$ commo
I got it working, OK? There are problems, but I'm attaching video from tonight assuming I can attach a file that big. First, the set-up. Let's start with the camera. Concealed in a birdhouse.
|
Bought a bunch of stuff and got the camera working in a tree above the sign. Here's a photo from where the sign is:
|
Zoomed in on the camera in this shot. You'll notice I had to cut away some branches to clear a path from the lens to the sign.
|
Here is some video. I made a much shorter video with some commentary and stuff, but it is an a format that won't play on Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. :( So you get the long version.
You'll see that the angle is way too narrow. All you can see is the sign -- we won't see much of what happens to someone who touches it. I need to fix that problem. This could have been webcast live tonight, but webmaster is on vacation. Yeah, that's an excuse, but I consider this thread to be commo made. :lifter |

RL, do you need a place to put the video until Dan comes back?
|
Now all we have to do is to teach you how to size your photos to 720 width or less.
Consider putting some plexiglass in the birdhouse for protection of the camera, lest you have a much bigger loss than the sign. TR |

Thread title a little premature? I am hearing that you have batteries in the radio and an antenna up, but I don't even hear white noise, much less the B Team.
Do not ever tell us you can do something, including making $&^%$#^&&^ commo, until you've made )(*)_*(*&_(*&_)(*&&^%%&% commo. In other words, when WE have video, you can talk shit.:munchin |

Go for it , RL ! You're doing a great job !
(Can't help but think: As RL passes a brief to the judge while representing a client, Judge: " Do I smell a skunk ?" ) :D |

Kyobanim should have it on his site with a link here in a while for the rest of you. Don't get excited -- it's just enough to show that I got the camera working, but all you can see is the sign. I need a wider angle lens or enough wire to put the camera a lot farther away. Oh, and I am bitter. Failure sucks. |

You have more problems than that. Got two that look like this. It would appear that you are unable to send. TR The following message was generated by SXXXXXX's Mail Secure Server: On 07/31/2004, 04:18:28 PM, an e-mail with the subject of Video, was blocked due to the following illegal attachment(s): winmail.dat. LOL - %$#^&*$ commo!

You know what, at least I am serving a purpose today. Not a productive one, but people do pay for entertainment. LOL
I will get this done eventually. Have fun in the interim. :o |

Thanks to Martin's generosity, you can get the clip here. It is 5.4MB and you'll need to unzip it.

I have no idea what RL is talking about, he must have hacked my server.
On the other hand, I seem to recall reading some instructions on where to link to make it work. Perhaps this works? |
He's not talking about you.
|
Excellent!

If you click the link, you'll find that it points to a file at www.pmfp.net I happen to be the owner of that domain. |
Ah, sorry.

RL has made comms! Thanks Martin.

Ummph.
'Bout time. TR |
OK, so here's the issue:
Do I go ahead and record footage with this setup? Or wait until I get a better angle? I am loathe to put the camera at risk just to get footage of someone's hands and feet taking the sign away, so I took it down for now. |
I would reposition it to get the full person and possibly vehicle/license plate coverage of the most likely place they would park, if stopping to damage your property.
Agreed there is little sense in missing the full picture. TR |
I am really enjoying every moment of this saga. Not so much the cloak and danger aspect, but the possibility that RL may actually catch someone and we get to follow the chase, so to speak.
Kudos to RL for stepping it up a notch. LOL. |
